Dear Midwest BLSA,

Region VIII of the National Bar Association (NBA) will host  NBA Awareness week from October 25-29, 2010. One of the activities during this week is a NBA membership drive. One component of the drive is soliciting Black Law Student Association (BLSA) members in the Midwest region to join the NBA. Membership is 100% free for law students.

Last year, Region VIII adopted our Region as its Pipeline Partner.  Under that partnership, Region VIII has allowed us to participate and attend its activities, supported our Regional activities, spotlighted our Region and its Executive Board, allowed us to write articles for its publications, and presented awards to our membership.  With its membership drive, Region VIII is once again supporting our upcoming Regional activities.

During the month of October, a NBA member and/or MWBLSA Executive Board may visit your meeting to encourage you to become a member of the NBA.   This email is written just in case a representative is unable to attend your meeting.  I am extending an invitation and encouraging you and your membership to become NBA members.  Attached is a NBA membership application.  Please disseminate this application to your membership.

Please send the completed applications to Pamela Meanes at or Thompson Coburn, One US Bank Plaza St. Louis, MO 63101.  Law students who sign up during the month of October will be entered in a raffle.  NBA Region VIII will pay the winners’ registration fee to attend MWBLSA Annual Conference on February 16-20, 2011 in Chicago, IL and a first year's law student's travel expenses to attend the MWBLSA's Academic Retreat on October 22-24, 2010, Cleveland, OH.  The winners will be announced during the week of October 26, 2010.  Best of luck!
